Brittany + Ian, November Love at Colonial Hall, Salem MA
Last November Brittany and Ian tied the knot in the beautiful Salem Waterfront. Salem has so much history and so many quaint areas that are perfect for portraits. From the working harbor, to the beautiful cobblestone and brown brick buildings. It has been preserved perfectly with all of the stunning charm of Comm Ave in downtown Boston, without any of the hassle.
Don't let this "Witch City" fool you. Salem has so much to offer other than the seasonal Halloween delights. Salem boasts plenty of Summertime activities as well as seasonal Christmas time activities. Your guests will have plenty to do. Check out Salem's page www.salem.org to find out what is happening around the time of your wedding.
Brittany and Ian had their ceremony at historic Ames Hall in downtown Salem, MA. With its marble staircase and stained glass windows, this historic building is a reminder of the grandeur of times gone past. Ames Hall has served many purposes over the years, first as a concert and lecture hall, then a gymnasium and most currently as a performing arts center for the Salem YMCA,
We used one of our signature wooden arbors to create a space as a focal point for the Bride and Groom to share their vows. This arbor can be moved and set up anywhere. Adorned with the fabric of your choosing and florals, this creates a WOW moment for your guests and photographer.
Many couples choose to have their formal and family photos taken with the arbors. When used at a location that your ceremony and reception happen at the same place, we often see guests using it for lots of selfies, group shots and couple shots for their instagram feeds and facebook profiles.
**PRO TIP**
Use flowers to highlight where the photographs will be taking place!
Flowers are there to enhance your day and to enhance the photographs. Choose places to highlight where the photographs will be happening. Choose to go BIG in places like your ceremony, and sweetheart table. At both of these places your guests and photographers alike will be snapping away to get the perfect shot!
After the ceremony, guests were invited to join a cocktail hour and reception at Colonial Hall at Rockafellas, just a quick walk down the street. We chose to highlight a few of the tables with tall arrangements featuring lots of hydrangea and magnolia. Their large size was appropriate for the vast space inside of the ballroom and the russet tones of the magnolia complimented the floors and woodwork perfectly.
We chose a series of different arrangements for the tables. I think that choosing multiple arrangements creates interest for your guests. Even if you are not planning on choosing a high and a low option. Choose two different low options! (even three!) It gives guests a reason to get up, look around and really take in the whole look of the event.
A HUGE thanks to Brittany + Ian for letting us create and share a beautiful piece of their day!
A special thank you to
for all of the lovely photos!
