Lenyx + Ricky || Woodland Charm at Peirce Farm at Witch Hill
Peirce Farm at Witch Hill is a charming historical Second Empire Victorian Mansion complete with an authentic restored New England Barn (ok... it may have technically been a carriage house) located on Old rt. 1 in Topsfield, MA. The property was originally built in 1821 and the barn was added in 1873. The present owners purchased it in 2013 and have been lovingly restoring the property since.
At Fleur + Stitch we typically set our first meeting to talk about all the logistics of your wedding (ie. how many bridesmaids, groomsmen, ceremony location etc.) and a "wish list" . The "wish list" typically contains all of the items that you think you may want a price on for your wedding. It doesn't mean that you have to buy them, but that you'd like a price on it to see if it would fit into your budget. My first meeting with Lenyx was full of ideas and optimism for her June wedding. She loved flowers and a rustic boho vibe. We talked about draping for the barn, flower crowns for all the maids, mantle decor and the possibility of decorating one of the trees on the property for her ceremony. I love this kind of enthusiasm and excitement!
We LOVE flowers and we love anyone who loves FLOWERS! Needless to say Lenyx + Ricky were dream clients and we were so excited to be working with them! The rest of the process was a breeze and Lenyx began to feel like a sister from another life.
The day for Lenyx and Ricky's Wedding had arrived and the forecast called for rain. It was a HUGE disappointment, as we had big plans for one of the large Beach trees on the property. We came prepared to execute Plan B, a gorgeous arbor with flowers and greenery under a tent. It was still not ideal as Lenyx had had her heart set on getting married in front of an ancient Beach tree on the property. Lenyx and I walked around the tent and came up with a layout. I thought we were set for plan B, luckily Peirce Farm gives you ample time to make the final call. So with one eye on the radar, we decided to wait as long as possible on the execution in hopes a miracle might occur. I gave Lenyx until 2 hours before her ceremony to make the final call.
As we were setting up the reception decor, one of the bridesmaids, Lili came into the barn, phone in hand, "There is going to be a 40 minute break in the rain" she said excitedly, "right around the time of the ceremony. Do you think there is a way we can still set up the tree?" "I would have to set it up in the rain." I said. "But, it wouldn't be the first time... If I start setting it up in the rain it should be ready for the ceremony and the break in the weather".
**Side note:** I would never put myself or my team in danger. There was no thunder or lightning.
We decided to wait it out a bit longer and I agreed I could set it up the tree in an hour with the help of my team. As the day went on, the window of clear skies kept inching further and further past the start of the ceremony time. I was getting less optimistic that we were going to be able to make it happen. But then a miracle! Lili came back down to the barn and said that Peirce Farm was allowing them to push the ceremony 45 minutes later to accommodate the break in the rain.
With that news in hand my team and I made our way quickly to the ceremony tree and carefully decorated the ancient Beach to set the stage for the nuptials. The ambient sound of the raindrops hitting the tree's leaves all around us was beautiful. The thick foliage of the Beach tree actually kept us quite dry and in no time the four of us had the tree draped in beautiful eucalyptus, peonies, hydrangea, roses, and delphinium.
Guests began to arrive and stayed huddled under the tent that was previously reserved for the ceremony and waited for the break in the rain. The DJ came and set up for the ceremony under a tent and started playing some soft music. The soft patter of the rain with the music was actually kind of soothing in a way. Slowly the rain let up, staff quickly dried the chairs, and guests began to take their seats. Lenyx and Ricky tied the knot in front of the historic beach with an epic secret handshake and their closest friends and family. The rain did not stop Lenyx's boho woodland vision and we were so proud that we could help her accomplish that.
At Fleur + Stitch, we love taking your inspiration and turning it into the wedding of your dreams. We will always do ever thing we can to help execute that vision. Even if means standing in the rain LOL!
Thank you Lenyx + Ricky for letting us be such a big part of your day!
