Elopements and Micro Weddings: How to celebrate safely in a Pandemic
2020 has brought a myriad of challenges, but clearly the largest hurdle for Fleur + Stitch and our clients has been the ban on large gatherings that extends from live events like concerts and performances, all the way down to our livelihood- Weddings.
Fleur + Stitch has been designing weddings exclusively since 2014 and have been happily growing our business yearly with the amazing support of our clients and network of venues that refer us. We work tirelessly to create one of a kind experiences and displays for our couples, and our heart broke for each and everyone of them with each email or phone call asking to postpone or cancel. We can not imagine the thought and consideration that went into each decision and the difficulty to choose on what is for some, a very significant milestone and large financial investment. We've worked closely with each client to come up with a plan that has worked for all of us, and each situation has presented different challenges. Collectively we've (couples and vendors alike) all had to think outside the box, pivot on a dime (thanks to everchanging guidelines) and consider a plan A, B and C. But for this blog post, let's take a dive deep into the beauty of elopements and micro weddings. 2020 may have presented a glitch to the wedding industry, but it has also proved to both vendors and couples that you can have a dreamy, intimate and cozy wedding that will still distract and delight each couple and their guests

Tented weddings
We saw a huge flux of venues featuring tents that normally wouldn't have had them. Consider still keeping your date and opting to move your event outside. We have absolutely loved working with The Commons 1854 in Topsfield, decorating the clear top tent that they rented for the season. The clear top and the open sides gives the courtyard space, typically reserved for ceremonies and cocktail hour, a secret garden feeling that is cozy and inviting. There are endless possibilities for decorating tents to give them the "WOW" factor including, hanging greenery, fabric draping and bistro lights just to name a few.

Indoor Gatherings
We have all mourned the loss of our beloved grand ballrooms and trendy industrial lofts teaming with guests and dancing. With indoor gatherings limited to 25, we really thought that these cavernous spaces would feel empty with just 25 guests. But it has proven just the opposite. These spaces feel intimate and exclusive. What a better way to let your guests feel safe and comfortable than in a space that can fit 250 guests, but is just reserved for them. At Olio Event Space in Peabody they have taken the bull by the horns and are knocking these intimate gatherings out of the park in terms of style and ease. They have begun offering packages with tons of different options for maximizing your time and minimizing your stress. We've loved working with each couple to make their event unique to them.

Back Yard Soiree
This has possibly been the biggest surprise of all: chic and exclusive backyard weddings. These events can be as detailed as you want them to be, fun and casual or formal affairs, beautiful and timeless. Lets not forget that Jackie and John F. Kennedy's reception was held in plein air and the guests dined al fresco at the oceanfront estate of Hammersmith Farm. Treat your guests to a catered meal at a farm table or seat them by couple at bistro tables for social distancing. Either way, I think we can all agree that the connotation of what a "backyard wedding" means has changed drastically in 2020 and we are HERE FOR IT.
